Virginia Tech Massacre: Columbine Tragedy Revisited

I woke up this morning feeling great about starting this day-it's only after what I have learned that made it a day I don't want to remember. At about 11:30 a.m. I went down the stairs and put on CNN only to learn one casualty resulted from a shooting at Virginia Tech. Quickly, I dismissed the shooting with a thought "Just another crazy maniac." It was after I arrived at MONTCO and checked the Drudge Report with the headline in bold red "One April Monday," with other small headlines relating to the shooting. I was dumb founded to learn that 33 students were shot (including the shooter). As I watched videos and saw pictures on CNN.com my memory quickly turned to Columbine High School massacre. Another school shooting?? How could we let it happen?! Up until I'm writing this blog we don't know yet who was the shooter or the apparent motive. Some news wires report that the shooter was of Asian descent in his early 20's and that he apparently went on a killing spree following an argument with his girlfriend. No of this information has yet been confirmed.

This tragedy is so overwhelming at this time and difficult to describe. This is certainly can be classified as the worst shooting in American educational institution ever-far beyond Columbine, and the Amish school house shooting. The photo from the New York Times of Virginia Tech students praying at a local church near the campus brought a lot of memories of seeing the nation on its knees praying for the victims of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. I hope we are reminded once again that life is too precious to waste. I'm so glad I know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior so when anything happens like the Virginia Tech massacre -I know I'm safe and I know where I'm going after this life. Today I mourn the innocent lives that perished this morning and family members who will soon be notified of their son or daughter's tragic death.

Even in the dark times like these....God still speaks

"Today, our nation grieves with those who have lost loved ones at Virginia Tech. We hold the victims in our hearts, we lift them up in our prayers, and we ask a loving God to comfort those who are suffering today." ~President George W. Bush
